The Mental Health and Addiction Programs Department (DPSMD) is seeking an educator for its English-speaking 2nd line addiction service in the Montreal area (Notre-Dame-de-Grâce). Summary of function: Provide education and rehabilitation for people with alcohol, drug and/or gambling addiction problems, according to intervention programs established in collaboration with the team of professionals in place, with the goal of rehabilitating the individual and reintegrating them into society. We apply educational techniques using everyday activities, by organizing, coordinating and leading the activities set out in the service program, to ensure the learning and acquisition of appropriate attitudes and behaviors.

Functions include, but are not limited to:

-          Analyze service requests from clients;

-          Prioritize clients and make appropriate referrals;

-          Evaluate the condition of the person requiring services and make the appropriate referrals;

-          Analyze service requests from our partners and make appropriate referrals;

-          Respond to requests for information about our services;

-          Schedule appointments for clients at various service points;

-          Plan intake sessions when appropriate;

-          Remain the point of contact for clients waiting to be seen at our points of service;

-          Follow-up by telephone to confirm client participation in intake activities;

-          Analyze the compliance of client files for access to inpatient beds;

-          Group leadership and social reintegration;

-          Ensure effective communication between referring parties and partners for inpatient beds. Status: Full time (35 hours/week) – unionized Qualifications:

  ·       Vanier College DEC in Special Care Counselling (3 years) or Bachelor's degree in a related field (social work, criminology, psychology, psychoeducation);

·       Fluent in English;

·       To qualify for this position, employees must pass French language tests and be classified at intermediate level (5 to 8) on the Quebec scale of proficiency levels. Start date: To be determined Work schedule: Monday to Friday, day (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) and evening shifts (12:00 - 8:00 p.m.) Salary: $24.77 - $35.67/hour
