November 26 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm EST

Law 25 Compliance for Organizations: Protect Your Data and Avoid Fines

Understanding Law 25 and Its Impact on Data Protection

Join us for an interactive workshop on Law 25 compliance. Learn how to protect your organization’s data and avoid potential fines. This new law, which took effect in 2021, is designed to improve data security. With new provisions that came out in September 2023, it’s important to stay up-to-date.

The Desjardins data breach, one of the largest in Canada, affected millions of people. It prompted the public demand for stronger data protection laws. As a result, Law 25 was passed. The law requires organizations to follow strict guidelines for collecting, storing, and managing data.

What Does Law 25 Mean for Your Organization?

Law 25 applies to all organizations, including non-profits and small businesses. It affects everything from data collection to management practices. Organizations must allow stakeholders to request information about the data being stored. Furthermore, they must ensure that data is secure and handled responsibly.

Compliance with Law 25 is not optional. Organizations that fail to meet the requirements could face hefty fines. Fortunately, there are practical steps you can take to avoid penalties and protect your data.

How to Ensure Law 25 Compliance and Protect Your Organization

In this workshop, we will cover the key steps to comply with Law 25:

  • Collect, store, and manage data securely
  • Protect client and stakeholder information
  • Comply with transparency requirements
  • Respond to data requests and breaches effectively

By understanding these requirements, you’ll be better prepared to manage your organization’s data and avoid costly mistakes.
