You don’t need to have all the answers to be a great mentor.

What happens when your mentee asks you something you don’t know how to answer?

Mentors can sometimes feel pressure to have the right advice, expertise or response for every situation. But effective mentorship isn’t about always knowing what to say. It’s about listening, staying curious, drawing on your experience and being comfortable navigating uncertainty alongside your mentee.

Join Dan Walmsley for an interactive, improv-based training session exploring confidence and imposter syndrome in mentorship.

Through practical improv-based exercises, you’ll explore how to:

• Feel more confident when you don’t have an immediate answer
• Trust your existing knowledge and experience
• Become more comfortable navigating uncertainty
• Listen, adapt and respond in the moment
• Show up authentically for your mentees
• Recognize the value you bring, even when you aren’t the expert in every situation

You’ll have opportunities to participate, reflect and connect with fellow mentors in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

Who is this session for?

This session is open to professionals interested in becoming mentors, as well as mentors currently participating in the YES Career Mentorship Program.

Whether you’re new to mentoring or already supporting a mentee, this session will give you space to reflect on your approach, build confidence and recognize the experience and perspective you already bring to the relationship.

Come ready to think on your feet—and leave with more confidence in what you already bring to mentorship.
