About the speaker

Owen McLean is a lifelong entrepreneur currently working under the dropshipping model with his company Ghoul RIP. His journey started in childhood with lemonade stands in his grandma’s driveway and selling photocopies of his hand-drawn cartoons at his uncle’s art supply store, eventually leading him to pursue an education in business at McGill University.

While working towards a marketing major, Owen continued to explore entrepreneurship – selling screen-printed t-shirts and hoodies to his friends in what would eventually become Ghoul RIP. As Owen began to take this venture more seriously, he sought the help of YES Montreal and was connected with advisor Derek MacNeil. Through this relationship, Owen explored further opportunities in print-on-demand production, the Etsy ecommerce platform, and the dropshipping business model. The combination of these opportunities brought success, with his Etsy shop achieving six-figure revenue and a spot amongst the top 0.1% of sellers – all while still a student.

Now a graduate of McGill and faced with the need to expand beyond Etsy, Owen remains a driven entrepreneur, hungry for further achievement, with the added benefit of real-world experience under his belt.
