NEW! Understanding Financial Statements: What Your Numbers Are Telling You

Do Your Financial Statements Leave You With More Questions Than Answers?
Many business owners are expected to “know their numbers,” yet financial statements can often feel like a foreign language. In this workshop, you’ll learn to read financial statements and understand what your numbers are telling you, helping you make more informed business decisions with confidence.
This workshop breaks down the core financial statements every business owner needs to understand: the balance sheet and the income statement. We’ll walk through what each statement shows, how they connect to one another, and how to read the story your numbers are telling about your business.
Whether you’re preparing for growth, seeking financing, or simply looking to make more informed decisions, understanding your financial statements can help you move forward with greater confidence.
What You Will Learn
- The structure and purpose of the balance sheet and income statement
- How the two statements relate to and reinforce each other
- Key financial ratios and what they reveal about a company’s health, including liquidity, profitability, and efficiency
- What red flags and strengths to look for when reviewing financial statements
- How to use this information to make better business decisions and communicate more effectively with investors, lenders, and partners
What You Will Gain
Founders are often expected to “know their numbers,” but financial statements can feel intimidating without a background in accounting or finance.
This session demystifies financial statements, giving attendees the confidence to read their own financials, ask the right questions of their accountant or bookkeeper, spot problems early, and present their company’s financial story clearly and credibly when it matters most, whether for fundraising, loan applications, or board meetings.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to better understand what your numbers are telling you and use that knowledge to support smarter business decisions.
Who Should Attend?
- Founders
- Early-stage entrepreneurs
- Small business owners
- Business owners without a finance or accounting background
- Anyone who wants to better understand their financial statements and use them more effectively to run and grow their business
If you’re ready to stop guessing and start understanding the story behind your numbers, this workshop is for you.
