Meet the jury for What the Pop! Art Pop-Up Exhibition — discover their vision and learn about the inspiring leaders behind this event. This September, our pop-up exhibition returns to Centre St-Jax, spotlighting 40 outstanding emerging artists from across Quebec. Before we announce the artist lineup in August, we’re excited to introduce the exceptional jury committee selecting this year’s talent. 🎭🖼️
A Distinguished Selection Committee
Our jury consists of five accomplished individuals from the arts and business communities. Each brings diverse perspectives and deep expertise to the selection process. Therefore, this year’s artist lineup will truly reflect the richness of Quebec’s creative scene. 🎨✨
Alyssa Stokvis-Hauer
Alyssa Stokvis-Hauer (she/her) is a curator, researcher, and museum programmer. She works at the intersection of contemporary art, cultural heritage, and history. As Artistic Director of the Museum of Jewish Montreal, she has collaborated with many local and international artists.
Alyssa emphasizes storytelling, interdisciplinarity, and inclusive community building. She holds an Hons. B.A. in Art History and Political Science from the University of Toronto and an M.A. in Art History from Concordia University.
Antonia Neatby
Antonia Neatby (she/they/he) is an animation filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist based in Tiohtià:ke (Montreal). Their films have been shown in festivals across Canada and internationally. Antonia loves working with physical media and often explores themes of religion and the body.
Briana Doyle
Briana Doyle is the co-founder of Cardinal Brewing, a craft brewery and cultural hub in Hudson, Quebec. Since 2020, Cardinal has supported community and cultural initiatives. It hosts live music, arts programming, and partnerships with local creators. The venue has also welcomed What the Pop! and other artist-driven events that celebrate creativity and community.
In addition to her role at Cardinal, Briana is a bilingual marketing strategist, writer, and arts consultant with over 20 years of experience. Her work focuses on the cultural sector, especially live music, performing arts, and audience engagement. Furthermore, she is the founder of Troubadours & Vagabonds Productions and serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
Briana is also a singer-songwriter. Her debut album, The Road is Long, was released in 2025. Because of her wide-ranging experience, she brings a deep appreciation for grassroots creativity and a strong belief in the power of local arts to build vibrant communities.
Jason Luce
Jason Luce is a multidisciplinary artist and entrepreneur based in Montreal. He is the founder of Afroavenir, an initiative that celebrates cultural diversity and empowers marginalized voices. As a dancer, Jason is a leader in the Montreal Krump movement, known for his raw expression.
Jason also founded Loop Barbershop, a creative grooming space that blends culture, well-being, and entrepreneurship. Overall, Jason’s work builds inclusive platforms that bridge business and art while inspiring future changemakers.
Renée Filbey
Renée Filbey (she/her) is an independent researcher, writer and curator based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. Renée has worked in the museum sector and in education, in Canada and abroad, most recently at the Musée d’art de Joliette, where her work led to the renewal of the Museum’s permanent exhibition and the launch of a major digitization project.
Holding an M.A. in museum studies at the University of Montreal and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Waterloo, her research focuses on the gendered politics of craft, modernism and textile production.
