We’re hiring an Organizational Development and Training Coordinator replacement position.

The Centre for Community Organizations (COCo)

The Centre for Community Organizations (COCo) is a non-profit that works to nurture an inclusive, social-justice oriented Quebec community sector where grassroots organizations can thrive. We believe that is an important part of creating a more just and equitable society overall. To this end, COCo provides training, accompaniment, and technological support to small, grassroots, and social-justice focused organizations. We also use our research to steward dialogue and change on issues of inclusion and diversity in the Quebec non-profit sector.

About the Job

The person hired will join our team of Organizational Development and Training Coordinators (ODT). The ODT Coordinators are jointly responsible for overseeing and supporting COCo’s facilitation and consulting services focussed around organizational development, and anti-oppression work to nonprofit organizations in Quebec,. COCo offers accompaniment services to 50-100 organizations per year, and these services are evolving quickly to respond to the needs of the sector and our own Theory of Change.

As a member of COCo’s highly collaborative team, the person in this role will actively take part in internal conversations on organizational development and contribute to other collective management tasks.

ODT Coordinators, depending on workload and organizational capacity, will also provide facilitation to  community organizations through individual accompaniment and training.

Application Deadline: March 1st 2026. The ideal start date is March 30th 2026.

Type and term of contract: One year. Replacement contract with possibility of extension.

Hours: 30 hours per week. Early morning, evening and weekend work may be required from time to time with advance notice.

Compensation: $33.92 per hour.

Benefits: Health insurance, pension plan, 4 weeks vacation and 3 weeks paid leave in December.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Organizational Development and Training Coordination (65%): 

  • Carry out the regular administrative tasks needed to sustain our organizational development and training services, including updating our database, ensuring contracts are signed, and invoices have been sent
  • Lead assessments and exploratory meetings with community groups to help identify their core needs and areas for growth and then play matchmaker with our team of skilled affiliate facilitators in the ODT program
  • Coordinate the consulting and facilitation team, including: hiring and training new team members, building baseline capacities for a diverse team, supporting facilitators in professional development, and designing opportunities for connecting and learning as a team
  • Ensuring supportive working conditions for ODT and Technology facilitators, including working with facilitators navigating complex accompaniments (e.g. anti-racism, coaching, strategic planning, conflict mediation, HR, team leadership & development)
  • Manage relationships with groups in collaboration with the facilitation team, including problem-solving when difficulties arise
  • Lead, with the ODT Coordinators, COCo’s information and referral service (info-COCo’s), helping enhance the intake process and triage requests from organizations dealing with issues in their day-to-day work
    • Provide support to community groups (info-coco by phone or in person), report the consultations in the CRM and make new resources used available to all staff and online
  • Develop and maintain an internal archive of training, facilitation, and process design tools for the consulting team in collaboration with the Communications Coordinator and other members of COCo staff. 
  • Provide oversight and strategic orientation for our organizational development and training services centering anti-oppressive practices, in collaboration with the Executive Coordinator, Programs. This includes developing regular feedback practices, creating and evolving data management systems, monitoring finances of the program, processing facilitator invoices and leading and implementing changes to our services 

Collective Collaboration (25%)

  • Participate in COCo’s collective management
    • Participate in reflections on the organization as a whole (structure, mission, etc.) and actively contribute to internal organizational development initiatives
    • Facilitate and actively participate in team meetings
    • Administer human resources support and co-supervision 
    • Actively engage in critical reflection (both individually and organizationally) about anti-oppression, social justice and accessibility principles and their implementation in the workplace
  • Contribute to shared administrative duties, e.g.:
    • Manage physical assets, e.g. monitoring office supplies, upkeep of office space
    • Contribute to the organization of the AGM and other special events and projects
    • Engage actively in and contribute to the planning of retreats (on a rotational or subject specific basis)
    • Follow invoicing and reimbursement procedures
  • Contribute to the monthly e-bulletin, annual report and other key communications moments 
  • Communicate to COCo members, community members and groups about the organization’s goals and mission

Organizational Health Consultant (10%): 

Based on the ODT Coordinator’s workload and organizational capacity, they may further support the health and wellbeing of grassroots community organizations (up to a maximum of 10% of Coordinator’s workload) by:

  • Accompanying organizations through long-term organizational change (vision and mission work, strategic planning, restructuring etc.)
  • Designing and facilitating workshops, training, and group change processes 
  • Continuing the development of organizational change strategies related to anti-oppression, anti-racism, and social justice values 
  • Mediating interpersonal conflicts within organizations

What We’re Looking for in a Candidate:

The ideal candidate has a gift for understanding the needs of organizations and the kind of support they could use. They are passionate about fostering anti-oppressive values and organizational change in the community sector. They bring a sharp understanding of organizational social justice and anti-racism work and a commitment to supporting facilitators in that context. They have a love for coaching and supporting others in their work, and they like to work in a team.They don’t find administration overwhelming, love creative problem solving, and can see the big picture and the long game. They enjoy translating an organizational vision into day-to-day practices, and making informed choices about where and how to allocate our resources. They care about the well-being of the Quebec community sector! 

No candidate will have everything on this list, and you don’t need to! We encourage applications from candidates who meet some of the qualifications and are excited about the job. Particularly for this role, because there are three ODT Coordinators, we can create a complementary skillset.

Qualities and skills: 

  • Organized and able to stay on top of administrative work
  • Capable of strategic thinking on behalf of the organization and the program
  • Able to design, manage and improve systems
  • Responsiveness to emerging needs and issues and ability to generate creative and people centered solutions
  • Able to discern a process, path or boundaries when presented with complex organizational situations
  • Ability to offer coaching, support, and mentorship to our facilitators
  • Have supervision skills that can be applied within a collaborative structure 
  • Depth of understanding of anti-oppressive perspectives and anti-racism
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Non Profit Organization processes (Boards, Bylaws, Incorporation, Dissolution, Legal, etc). 
  • Ability to practice active listening and communicate clearly
  • Demonstrates responsibility and leadership
  • Desire to support COCo’s commitment to amplifying marginalized voices in the community sector
  • Bilingualism: functional fluency in both French and English
  • Ease with learning and using existing software (e.g. Google Drive, Salesforce, WordPress, Grant Connect)

Experience or Training:

  • Experience and interest in working in collaborative contexts
  • Experience in conducting and analyzing needs assessments
  • Experience in leading groups, overseeing processes and structures, and/or providing supervisorial support 
  • Experience in training consultants, trainers, and facilitators
  • Experience in implementing anti-oppression practices in organizations
  • Experience with Quebec’s community sector
  • Experience in meeting facilitation and mediation within organizational development contexts, preferably.

Knowledge: 

  • Understands major components of organizational health (e.g. human resources management systems, workplace culture, strategic planning, governance and processes etc.)
  • Developed understanding of anti-racism and other social justice movements, and their applications in facilitation and consulting 
  • An understanding of barriers experienced by racialized and other marginalized communities in Quebec
  • Understands process consulting approach

Work Environment: 

You will join a team of 8-10 staff members and a community of affiliated facilitators:

  • A highly collaborative and non-traditional work environment 
  • A Leadership Circle of 3 Executive Co-Coordinators
  • A dynamic team that is comfortable working at different paces
  • Currently, COCo is working remotely, collaborating across virtual platforms. However, some activities and meetings may be held in community spaces in Montreal as needed. We are working on a hybrid and collective return-to-work policy. We can share our thoughts on this during the interviews
