Meet Molshree Uniyal: One of Our 30 Faces of YES
When Molshree arrived in Quebec, she brought with her an MBA, years of HR experience, and a determination to relaunch her career in a new country. But like many newcomers, she quickly discovered that breaking into the Quebec job market — and doing so in a predominantly French-speaking environment — came with its own set of challenges. Though she reached out to YES soon after arriving in 2015, her open work permit at the time limited the support available to her. Still, she never lost sight of her goals.
Years later, while completing her French language training, Molshree came across the Women’s Employment Readiness (WERQ) Pilot Program — a YES initiative designed to help women re-enter the workforce and overcome employment barriers worsened by the pandemic. Through the program, she received personalized coaching, professional guidance, and renewed confidence in her skills. Her YES employment counsellor, Ellen, supported her through every step: refining her résumé, preparing for interviews, and navigating early career transitions with compassion and clarity.
Today, Molshree is thriving as an Onboarding Specialist at RTX, helping to build Quebec’s future workforce by supporting others in their own professional journeys. Her story is one of persistence, adaptability, and the power of the right support at the right time — a testament to how programs like WERQ are helping women transform challenges into new beginnings.
Interview with Molshree
What brought you to YES, and what were you hoping to achieve at that time?
I came to YES in hope of relaunching my career in a French dominated province. I had recently arrived to Canada as an expat’s wife with an MBA and some years of HR experience, but with no basic idea of how the Canadian job market works.
Can you tell me about some of the challenges or goals you faced when you first connected with YES? Was there a particular moment or obstacle that felt especially significant?
When I reached out to YES in 2015, they were not able to help me as I was in an open work permit and couldn’t have access to any resources that would help me.
How did YES support you in overcoming those challenges or moving forward in your career, business, or artistic journey?
In 2022 when I was completing my Francisation, I came across YES’ WERQ pilot program and I applied. The WERQ Pilot program was an insightful experience. It helped me in relaunching my career. Other than that, I took one-on-one career coaching with Ellen. She was such a great help and wonderful coach/mentor who helped me in every aspect from creating my resume to preparing me for my interview. Even when I was not satisfied with my first job, she was always there to support me and guide me through to navigate forward from that experience.
Where are you now in your journey, and what achievements or milestones are you most proud of?
Recently I completed 2 years working with RTX as an onboarding specialist. I am really grateful to YES in helping me to achieve this milestone!
