Job description:
Main duties:
• Operate and drive primarily straightbody trucks, long-combination vehicles and tractor-trailers, weighing over 4500 kg to transport goods and materials over short distances (intra-provincial)
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection of the transport vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals, brakes and cold storage
• LTLwork (multiple collection & deliveries throughout tight downtown areas)
• Authenticate materials being transported and manage appropriate shipping documentation
• Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements
• Keep clear and concise records of cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Manually or electronically maintain log books and administer bills of lading to clients
• Communicate and coordinate with other drivers, dispatchers, and customers in person and using communication devices and on-board computers as required
• Manage and respect strict deadlines and shipping schedules
• Knowledge and adherence of the Quebec Highway Safety Code
• Knowledge and understanding of road-side security procedures in the event of an emergency
• Know and follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods/materials as required
• May transport hazardous products or dangerous goods.
Employment requirements:
• Experience as a Transport Truck Driver (minimum of 3 years)
• Fluency in English is required
• Drivers License – Class 1 is required
• Clean Driving record is required
• Knowledge of the Quebec Highway Safety Code
• Completion of secondary school is required.
Job Type: Full-time - 45h/week (overtime as required)
Salary: $25.00 per hour (overtime rate: $37.50 per hour after 45 H)
Schedule: Monday to Friday - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
