The Côte-des-Neiges Black Community Association (CDNBCA) is seeking an experienced candidate to take on the role of UIBE² (UIBE Square) Business Advisor.
The Côte-des-Neiges Black Community Association (CDNBCA) is a registered Canadian charity proudly serving Montreal’s Black English-speaking community since the 1970’s. Our mandate is to offer programs and support services designed to address the changing needs of our community and its intersectional members.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Business Advisor supports participants interested in self-employment and entrepreneurship as an alternative pathway to economic participation.
This role provides practical guidance on starting and growing small businesses, helping participants develop viable business ideas, strengthen entrepreneurial skills, and access resources and training opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide one-on-one business advisory sessions for participants interested in entrepreneurship.
- Help participants refine business ideas and identify viable market opportunities.
- Support participants in developing basic business plans and business models.
- Provide guidance on:
- Business registration in Québec
- Accessing financing and grants
- Market research
- Pricing strategies
- Digital presence and marketing
- Connect participants to entrepreneurship programs, accelerators, and funding opportunities.
- Facilitate introductions to mentors, business networks, and ecosystem partners.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Degree or diploma in business administration, entrepreneurship, economic development, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in entrepreneurship support, small business development, or business consulting.
- Familiarity with startup incubators, funding programs, and business support networks is an asset
- Bilingualism (English required; French strongly preferred).
- Experience supporting diverse or underrepresented entrepreneurs.
- Strong coaching and advisory skills.
- Knowledge of the small business ecosystem in Québec.
- Ability to simplify complex business concepts for new entrepreneurs.
Salary: $25/hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Location: Côte-des-Neiges Black Community Association, 6585 Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges
Type of position: One-year contract (Part-Time up to 15 hrs/wk)
Reports to: UIBE2 Department Manager
