This free artist pop-up series supports emerging creatives across disciplines—visual arts, performance, crafts, and more—offering real-world selling experience, visibility, and skill-building in a supportive environment.

Why You Should Participate in What the Pop!

Pop-up events are temporary art showcases hosted in dynamic, high-traffic spaces. What the Pop gives you the chance to:

• Reach new audiences and connect with your community
• Gain hands-on experience with live exhibiting or performing
• Test new setups, products, or performances
• Learn how to monetize your creativity
• Access free online training in pop-up planning, selling, grant writing, and sustainability

Best of all, participation is completely free.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be based in Quebec
• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
• Must have less than 5 previous exhibition or performance experiences
• Must be available on September 12 & 13, 2025

📍 Location: St Jax Center, 1439 St. Catherine St Ouest, downtown Montreal.

 

Important Dates & Times 

Artists must be available for ALL the following days/times:

Friday September 12th from 1:30 pm to 8 pm:

Set-up and sound checks: 1:30 to 3pm
Event time: 3-7pm
Take-down: 7-8pm

Saturday September 13th from 10:30 am to 7 pm.

Set-up and sound checks: 10:30 to noon
Event time: 12pm noon -6pm
Take-down: 6-7pm

Note: Displaying artists MUST be present for the set-up time and the take-down times

Note: For performing artists, sound checks will occur during the set up times. Individual performance times will be determined in August.

How to Apply

 Read the SUBMISSION GUIDELINES (available in English and French) for eligibility and details. 

 Attend our free online info session, Answering Artist Calls: Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them with artist coach Caroline Gauthier on Friday, June 27, 10 AM – 12 PM. (A recording will be available if you cannot attend live.) 

 Complete the bilingual application form, including 5 – 10 examples of your work.
