Preschool Counsellor
14 to 21 hours per week

2022-2023 School Year Contract

JOB SUMMARY

As a member of a department offering cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary support services to daycares, the Preschool Counsellor will offer consultation, intervention and collaborative leadership to daycares, administrators, educators and families with the express goal of enhancing the children’s overall functioning in the CPE.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize a systems approach, conduct psychosocial assessments of children and families around daycare-related issues
  • Consultation and collaboration with administrators and educators around both individual children and global daycare issues
  • Co-ordination of Ometz supplementary services in the daycare
  • Serving as a member of the daycare’s children services team
  • Fulfilling administrative responsibilities as identified by department (assessments, referrals, and maintenance of dossiers on database)
  • Formulate and implement daycare and classroom-based intervention plans
  • Facilitate parent workshops

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree in social work or related field of study
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in early childhood development & family systems
  • Good knowledge of Jewish & Orthodox Community
  • Must be bilingual in French and functional in English
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and web-based data entry
  • Eligibility for appropriate professional order membership

This position requires the selected applicant to undergo vulnerable sector police check.
