We are looking for an on call special care respite worker who is a motivated, dynamic and a responsible team player that is able to maintain good relationships with guests, their families and fellow team members.
Responsibilities & Tasks:
- To ensure the well-being of respite guests and be familiar with their needs and interests,
- Ensure the safety of all guests at all times and that guests are accounted for at all times;
- Care for participants’ hygiene, medical, dietary and toileting needs;
- Keep track of participant’s individual belongings;
- Evaluate program participants and create personalized activities that are adapted;
- To prepare and serve healthy and well-balanced meals;
- To maintain the facility (including: ensuring the laundry is done and the facility is in a proper state);
- Follow and facilitate all procedures and routines
Guest Engagement & Participation:
- To plan, prepare and implement stimulating programming that is adapted based on the guests’ individual interests and needs;
- Ensure that guests are engaged in programming and have opportunities to take part in a variety of activities that benefit their well-being and bring them enjoyment throughout their stay;
- Facilitate guests’ communication as well as socialization among peers;
- Practice a strength-based approach and encourage independence.
Communication & Documentation:
- To communicate on a regular basis with the Angelman Respite Centre Coordinator and promptly in the event of anything concerning for the facility, program or guests;
- To notify the Angelman Respite Centre Coordinator in advance when supplies and food are required
- To correspond with families/caregivers by phone or in writing as needed about the guests’ well-being, progress, etc.
- To complete required documents and reports, such as: Shift & Individual logs, medication forms, overnight room check logs, overnight checklist, communication logs and incident reports.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Scheduling:
On call weekend shifts will be provided as needed as determined by the program coordinator
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Seasonal
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 7.5 -12 per week
Salary: $18.00 per hour
