POSITION OVERVIEW: Planning and animation of 2-hour workshops for development of gross motor
skills for young children through free play.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
• Develop gross motor skills among children aged 0-5 through ‘free play’
• Get families physically active together
• Break social isolation experienced by Anglophones and allophones in Trois-Rivières and the
surrounding areas

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
CASE is looking for dynamic individuals to co-animate 2-hour gross motor skills activities based on the
principals of ‘free play’ for children aged 0-5. Key responsibilities include:
• Using available equipment, set up age-appropriate free play stations in a gymnasium to promote
gross motor-skills development for children aged 0-5 and their older siblings. Stations would
include obstacle courses, game modules for climbing and balancing, games
• Accompany families and offer information and creative tips to maximize their experience
• Create a welcoming environment and nurture relationship-building between families
• Report on weekly activities and contribute relevant information for final report
• Set up materials prior to activities, disinfect and store materials after activities

QUALIFICATIONS
Successful candidates will have relevant experience working with babies, children and families, and
working knowledge of gross motor skills development for 0–5-year-olds. The ideal candidate will have a
diploma or currently be pursuing a degree in a related field of study such as early childhood
development, kinesiology, ergotherapy or physical education. Candidates must be bilingual and able to
work in English - activities will be animated in English. Experience in community development an asset.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team
• Good working knowledge of English and functional knowledge of French
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Good organizational skills
• Creativity to set up and use materials/games in different ways each week

TERMS OF CONTRACT AND SALARY
• Contract dates: October 2, 2021– December 4, 2021
• 32-40 hours total
• Salary: 20$/hour
• Possibility of contract renewal for Winter - Spring session (January – March)

SCHEDULE:
• 10 weeks* of free-play activities on Saturday mornings from October 2– December 4, 2021 from
8 am – 12 pm (set up 8-9 am, workshop 9-11 am, disinfecting & cleanup 11am-12pm).
* There is a possibility that 1 or 2 workshops can be cancelled if the gymnasium must be used
for elections.
