Project Genesis is a grassroots, social rights anti-poverty organisation, working on social and economic issues such as housing, social programs related to poverty, health care, participation, and seniors’ issues as well as local issues affecting the multi-ethnic Côte-des-Neiges community.
We seek a dynamic and experienced Executive Director.
We offer:
· An annual salary between $80,000 and $90,000, based on experience
· Four weeks of vacation
· A health insurance plan
Mandate of the Executive Director
In collaboration with the Project Genesis Board of Directors and the staff team, the Executive Director assures global management responsibility for the organisation in a collaborative and participatory manner.
Global Leadership
· Involves and consults with the staff team and the Board of Directors to stimulate participatory management and respect successful work practices;
· Consults, analyses and develops proposals to improve current practices;
· Assures the development/maintenance of good governance practice and decision-making by the Board of Directors;
· Develops programs, orientations and services with the team and Board;
· Supports collaboration among the team, members, users, and the Board;
· Represents the organisation at coalitions as needed;
· Acts as ambassador for Project Genesis. Media spokesperson.
Financial Resource Development and Management, Administrative and Facilities Management
· Prepares and manages the budget, assures healthy financial management and finds new funding sources;
· Stabilises funding and is actively involved in donor relations;
· Assures sound financial management, including accountability and development of internal policies;
· Drafts follow-up and other reports
· Manages the material resources and facility, and assures maintenance.
Team Building and Support
· Supports the work of both teams and maintains a common vision;
· Listens to the staff team, and assures the building of trust;
· Encourages a good working environment, good work relations and union relations;
Management of Human Resources
· Facilitates negotiations and negotiates terms;
· Responsible for hiring, with the involvement of the Selection Committee;
· Facilitates integration, mobilisation and development of skills. Evaluates staff;
· Coordinates and supervises the staff team, offering support and contributing to the development of services and programs.
Qualifications
· A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as an Executive Director, preferably in an NGO;
· University degree in a relevant field;
or
· A combination of relevant experience and a Masters degree in management could be considered
· Bilingual (French and English), excellent oral and written communication skills;
· Extensive involvement and recognised leadership in the community sector;
· Knowledge of institutions, networks and partners in the field.

· Skills in financial resource development and fundraising;
· Strategic vision, political thinker, ability to rally people;
· Knowledge of social and political issues, passion for the fight against poverty and for social rights;
· People skills, able to create positive relations and recognised for their initiative;
· Adaptable, good organisational skills, able to prioritise;
· Ability to understand and respect the diverse cultures present in the community, and to create trusting relations and support inclusion.
