Since opening its doors more than 25 years ago, YES has developed innovative programs and supports that are unique in addressing the economic challenges facing Quebecers and ensuring that they have the appropriate tools, information, and services necessary to succeed economically.

We are looking to hire a director for our Employment Services program. This is one of our flagship programs. The employment sector in Quebec is changing and we are looking for a strong program developer and leader to motivate a seasoned team and secure the program’s effectiveness in a changed landscape. This is an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to English-speaking Quebecers’ opportunities in Quebec.

The selected candidate will work collaboratively with the Executive Director, senior staff, and all stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a program development track record, solid communication and management skills and experience in employment services and counselling, ideally here in Quebec.

Key Responsibilities:
• Position program for continued funding from Emploi Quebec and responding to new client needs and economic trends
• Motivate and support the employment team
• Ensure sound management of the Employment Services department in compliance with YES standards, contract deliverables and planning
• Represent YES in all sectoral activities
• Foster strong relationships with government, educational and community-based organizations and manage current partnerships
• In collaboration with the Director of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, recruit and manage volunteers – mentors, consultants, speakers, committee members and professionals as needed
• Oversee the development and evaluation of workshops
• Deliver workshops as required
• As a member of the senior staff team, provide effective leadership and contribute positively to the overall management of the organization
• Contribute to enhancing YES’ visibility by telling clients’ stories and enabling clients to give interviews and participate in public events
• Actively participate in the development of the organization’s strategic goals and the formulation of the annual and long-term plans to achieve them
• Participate in the successful planning and execution of YES events, with a view to leveraging opportunities for engaging stakeholders and exploiting new opportunities for development
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships internally with board members, senior staff, and employees, and externally with clients, volunteers, community and business leaders, donors, funders and other stakeholders

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
• Degree in Management, Counselling, Social Work, or Human Relations.
• A minimum of five years working in the areas of program management, employment services, job search counselling, student placement or in recruiting, two of which must be in a management capacity
• Superior management skills with proven planning and organizing abilities
• Autonomous, comfortable multi-tasking, and motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong writing and reporting skills for a professional audience
• Fluent spoken French and advanced written French a definite asset
• Passion, humility, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven
• Experienced and certified to administer and interpret Career Tests an asset
• Ease with all technology especially MS Office, Office 365, CRM
• Knowledge and understanding of community organizations
• Experience in program design
• Experience with volunteers and committees
• Must be available to travel and to work occasional evenings for pre-scheduled workshops and YES events
