Job Overview:
The Camp Counselor is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and fun environment for campers. This role involves planning and leading daily activities, supervising campers, and ensuring the overall well-being and development of each participant.
Key Responsibilities:

Camper Supervision and Safety:
- Oversee the daily activities of campers to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Monitor camper behavior and address conflicts or issues promptly and effectively.
- Enforce camp rules and safety protocols consistently.

Activity Planning and Facilitation:
- Assist in designing and implementing a variety of recreational, educational, and outdoor activities.
- Lead group activities such as sports, crafts, games, and team-building exercises.
- Adapt activities to meet the interests and needs of different age groups.

Mentorship and Support:
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor to campers, encouraging personal growth and teamwork.
- Provide guidance and support to help campers develop social and leadership skills.
- Maintain open communication with campers to understand their needs and concerns.

Logistics and Daily Operations:
- Assist with setup and cleanup of activity areas, dining spaces, and cabins.
- Help manage the distribution of resources and supplies for camp activities.
- Support the coordination of special events and camp-wide programs.

Communication and Collaboration:
- Work closely with fellow counselors and camp management to plan and review daily activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding camper progress and camp events.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications and Skills:

Experience:
- Prior experience working with children or in a camp environment is highly desirable.
- Experience in recreational program planning or youth mentoring is a plus.

Education:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional training in child development, recreation, or related fields is beneficial.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

Certifications and Physical Requirements:
- Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Physical fitness and the ability to participate in and lead outdoor activities.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the camp schedule.
Working Conditions:
- This is typically a seasonal position, with work primarily taking place outdoors.
- Camp Counselors may be required to work in varying weather conditions.
