About the speaker:
Red Jay (real name Joshua Oliver) has 20 years of experience in the media content production industry and has what he describes as the perfect triptych of skill sets in order to be a leading expert on viral branded content; storytelling acumen, business nous, and content production experience. He first started out in TV commercials in the early 2000s for brands such as Ford and McDonalds and worked his way through various technical departments to writer/director, working on factual entertainment, documentary, and dramatic narrative content. His business nous comes from founding and running two successful production companies on both sides of the Atlantic – Nought2Sixty Productions Ltd (UK) & Jay De Vivre (Canada) – where over the last 10 years he has produced content for a steady stream of world-renowned clients. Such brands as Virgin Galactic, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Orange Mobile, The British Council, and University College London (UCL). He has two Postgraduate master’s degrees in screenwriting and business enterprise and has received several top placed finishes at prestigious worldwide storytelling competitions. He is currently going through a metamorphosis in his career from a traditional TV & film industry professional to what he describes as a ‘Video Artivist’ focused on activism, humanism, and political & social injustice. His videos focus on emotionally arousing high concept themes, which include his latest piece Human Weighted Blanket, centering on pandemic-related mental health deterioration.
