NEW INSPIRATION FOR A NEW YEAR

Let's prove that inspiration is contagious!

For many of us, inspiration is just what we need for this time of the year when we are
envisioning fresh starts, resolutions and taking on new challenges.

In this spirit, we are going to do our part by sharing some of our favorite YES stories and experiences that have inspired us
to make a difference so that you, too, will be inspired into action.

Here is  Marjorie Joasil's story:

"Coming to YES was the best decision I ever made."

“In 2012, I was faced with a difficult transition from running my own business to seeking a professional position in my field. It was a tough decision to make and I didn't know where to begin so I decided to take advantage of the Job Search Program at YES. After attending numerous counselling sessions, I landed a job as an account coordinator for an experiential marketing agency.”

Fast forward to 2016. YES was right by her side when Marjorie decided she was ready to take the leap into entrepreneurship once again.  By attending workshops, Marjorie was able to expand her business acumen which serves her in her everyday life as the co-founder of Grind Atelier, the leading educator in brand identity for solopreneurs.

"I am thankful for what YES did for me and will forever be an ambassador of this great organization."

So, what gives us inspiration?

Every day, we see the true impact of our efforts. Not only in the lives of the more than 4,800 job seekers, entrepreneurs and artists we work with every year, but also in the communities from the Greater Montreal area and all across Québec.

Our services are personalized and tailored to each and every one of our clients and their unique vision,
and most of our services are free.

How about that for inspiration!

If, like us, you’re inspired to invest in people and ideas, show your support by donating to the success of people like Marjorie.

As a registered charity, we rely on the generosity of our supporters to enable us to provide the best possible programs
and services to the over 4,800 individuals who walk through our doors each year.

Our goal is to  raise $35,000 by March 31, 2017.

YOU CAN HELP CHANGE SOMEONE'S LIFE. PLEASE GIVE TODAY.

FIND OUT HOW WE CAN HELP YOU LAUNCH YOUR CAREER

LEARN HOW CHRISTIAN MEDINA FOUND A JOB WITH THE HELP OF YES

Christian Medina holds a Masters of Arts in International Affairs from the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University and a BA (Hons.) in Politics and Philosophy from the University of Hong Kong and the University of Waterloo. With all his education and motivation in tow, Christian moved to Montreal in September 2016 with no clear idea on how or where he would find a job. How could he build a network in a place he’s never been before?

He was introduced to YES and after attending a few workshops, he sat down with a career advisor to help him apply more focus to his job search. He was looking for a career related to his field of study, but also where there was room to grow and learn new skills.

“My Career Advisor, Ellen, suggested that I attend an open house event for start-ups in the city,” Christian said. “Her plan seemed simple and straightforward: dress professionally, print a bunch of resumes and just go talk to people, introduce myself.” One of the most interesting start-ups he came across that day was Ajah, a Montreal-based software company that builds tools for the Canadian non-profit sector. He left them with his resume and a sample of some of his written work regarding access to data (the job opening was for a data analyst). The following week he was called in for an interview and was hired a day later.

“I have not been at Ajah long, but I love it,” Christian says. “I get to work on data projects that matter to me and there seems to be a lot of room to grow; I am excited for what the future holds.”

“I would not have found this opportunity if not for the great advice I got at YES.”
